A SmartCall can be Pre-paid and Post-paid, done by cash at Happy Call. The minimum top-up of airtime or deposit is K1000.
Q How long does it take to activate my account?
A After signing of the contract, payment or top-up you can make international calls right away.
Q How do I make an international call?
A You can get in touch with the International Operator 7 days a week, 24 hours a day at 01 797390 / 08 334955 / 09 274438. The operator will connect you to your international destination. You can also use Phone Callback or SMS Callback.
Q How long is my calling credit valid?
A The credit in your account is valid 6 months.
Q How do I know the costs of my calls?
A We will include you calling costs wen we send you an SMS with your credit balance or monthly invoice.
Q How do I know my credit balance?
A We will send you an SMS message if your credit balance has dropped below the required minimum (K250 for prepaid accounts). A free credit balance / end of month bill is invoiced by SMS message. Additional credit balance requests can be sent by SMS message at a charge of K50 per message. A monthly overview with your calling details and costs is provided at Happy Call.
Q Are there any additional costs?
A You only pay for the minutes you call. Using the Happy Call operator is free of charge. Post-paid accounts have an additional monthly fee of K100.
Q Which countries can I call to?
A You can call to anywhere in the world.
Q Can I call a destination that is not on your list?
A Yes. Call Happy Call for the exact rate of that destination.
Q What are your rates?
A Please use the overview of Smart Call rates. Calls are charged by the minute and charging starts once you are connected to the person you are calling.
Q Can I use SmartCall from any phone?
A Yes! We can connect you to any phone in Malawi, landline and mobile. You can use SMS Callback to engage an international call from a landline or any other cell phone to anywhere in the world. You sign-up with your own cell phone and you will be charged the regular international SMS charges on top of the calling cost.
Q If I operate my own Telephone Bureau, can I also use SmartCall?
A Yes! We encourage you to use SmartCall at your own Bureau or Business. We only ask you to display our SmartCall sign.
Q How can I earn free calls by reselling SmartCall?
A Bring us a new customer and we will give you K200 worth of free calls. Make sure the new customer tells us your name or account number when s/he signs up and pays for the international calls.
Q The quality of the connection is not good, I experience a delay in the line when talking. Whats wrong?
A You are probably calling a mobile number. Try to call a landline, which will improve the quality of the connection at a lower rate.
Q After calling the operator, the International Phone Callback number or sending an SMS Callback, nothing happens. Whats wrong?
A The international connections may be engaged or congested. Please try again later.
Q When I call the callback number, I am asked to enter an account number. Whats wrong?
A Your credit balance has dropped below K1000, which is the minimum. Your account has been deactivated. Top-up your credit at Happy Call.
Q If I want to close my account, do you pay back my credit balance?
A No, but you can use the remaining credit to make local or international calls at Happy Call / Rether Investment at the normal rates.
